Studying in the Philippines

Before going to the Philippines, I just only knew about people are friendly and very Americanized. Then, what I understood of my school was girl college. That's it. Aside from those information, I did not know any further. The more I stay and study, the better I appreciate the Philippines' education, my college, and people around me.

During my first semester, I had so many challenges such as homesick, language barrier, educational system and so forth. However, teachers from Miriam College are so kind and helpful to me. Since they knew I was from Burma, they were ready to help me especially in academic. I was achieving attention from my teachers and classmates. Therefore, I feel that my college is like my home and family year by year.

When I look at my school, it is not very big including estimate 8000 students. Compared to other school, my school is quite small. Therefore, I am skeptical whether my college can give good education or not. At the end of the day, it absolutely eradicates my doubt and shapes me to become a bright, mature, and leader in my community one day. Personally, I can see my improvement which I did not expect such as reading, writing, thinking, and speaking.

I am so proud to be a Miriam student because I have the opportunity to study here which is one of the top ten school in nationwide. Moreover, Philippines is one of the top ten in gender equality all over the world. Therefore, I believe that studying and living in Philippines envision me to see more the social equality between men and women which I rarely see in my community such as lady guard, women tricycle drivers and so forth. After graduating, I could utilize these experience and knowledge effectively along with Burmese traditional way.

All in all, I was blessed and believed that I have a great opportunity which even every Filipino does not have to study in my college due to the financial disparities. With the opportunity and education, I would like to extend my acknowledge to all of my approachable professors, helpful classmates and those who I forgot to express the name here. You will be in my history forever.
